Permit Pass: DMV Test Prep

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Permit Pass collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Permit Pass, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

When you create a Permit Pass account, we collect the account information you provide: your email address, your name (if you choose to add one), and a securely hashed password. Whether or not you have an account, we store your study data — selected state, quiz answers, scores, streaks, bookmarks, and study preferences — so we can show your progress. We also collect anonymous, aggregate usage data (such as session length and feature usage) to improve the app. If you use the free, ad-supported version, our advertising partner may also collect a device advertising identifier and similar technical data to display ads (see “Advertising” below).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate and improve Permit Pass: to sign you in, sync your progress across devices, track your readiness score, manage your subscription, and improve question accuracy. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your study progress and preferences are stored locally on your device using on-device storage, so you can keep practicing offline. If you create an account, that data is also synced to our hosted backend (Supabase) over an encrypted HTTPS connection and stored with encryption at rest. Account passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are stored only as salted hashes — we never store or have access to your plain-text password.

4. Authentication & Account Access

Permit Pass uses Supabase Authentication to manage sign-in. Your login credentials are transmitted securely and verified server-side; we do not store passwords in plain text and do not collect biometric data. You can sign out at any time, and you can permanently delete your account and associated data from the Profile screen.

5. Third-Party Services

We share the minimum data needed with service providers that help us run the app: Supabase (account authentication and secure data sync); RevenueCat together with Apple’s App Store (to process and validate subscription purchases); and Google AdMob (to display ads to users on the free plan — see “Advertising” below). Payment details are handled entirely by Apple — Permit Pass never sees your card or billing information. These providers process data under our agreements with them and their own privacy policies.

6. Advertising

Permit Pass is free to use and is supported by ads. If you are on the free plan, we use Google AdMob to show advertisements (for example, after you finish a quiz). To serve these ads, AdMob may collect and process technical data such as a device advertising identifier, approximate location, and app-usage signals. We request non-personalized ads, but AdMob may still use limited data for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and ad measurement. Premium subscribers do not see ads. You can review how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device’s privacy settings.

7. Children’s Privacy

Permit Pass is designed for users 15 years of age and older (the minimum age to obtain a learner’s permit in most states). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. You can also reset your local progress from the Profile screen at any time. If you are located in California or the EU, you may have additional rights under CCPA or GDPR — please contact us to exercise these rights.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this policy. Continued use of Permit Pass after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us at cliptksupport@gmail.com. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 2 business days.
